Is it HDR?
HDR adds brighter highlights and deeper contrast to photos, films and games that support it. Here is what Kuycon monitors offer, and how a Mac uses it.
HDR support, HDR600 on the P27Z
The panels support HDR, with a certified HDR600 rating on the P27Z. That combines high peak brightness with wide P3 colour and 10-bit gradients, which is what gives HDR content its extra depth.
On a Mac, macOS switches to HDR automatically when you play supported video, open HDR photos or run a game that requests it, then returns to standard range for everything else.
What HDR does and does not change
HDR is most visible in films, games and photos mastered for it, where highlights like the sun or a bright window keep their intensity. For text and everyday apps, the benefit is contrast and colour rather than a dramatic change.
Brightness and wide gamut are what make HDR worthwhile, and both are strengths of these panels.
